And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains, and have given you to drink sweet water?

GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie!

(بنایا) اور اس پر اونچے اونچے پہاڑ رکھ دیئے اور تم لوگوں کو میٹھا پانی پلایا

{ وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ } أي: جبالا ترسي الأرض، لئلا تميد بأهلها، فثبتها الله بالجبال الراسيات الشامخات أي: الطوال العراض، { وَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمْ مَاءً فُرَاتًا } أي: عذبا زلالا، قال تعالى: { أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ }

ألم نجعل هذه الأرض التي تعيشون عليها، تضم على ظهرها أحياء لا يحصون، وفي بطنها أمواتًا لا يحصرون، وجعلنا فيها جبالا ثوابت عاليات؛ لئلا تضطرب بكم، وأسقيناكم ماءً عذبًا سائغًا؟

يعني الجبال رسى بها الأرض لئلا تميد وتضطرب "وأسقيناكم ماء فراتا" أي عذبا زلالا من السحاب أو مما أنبعه من عيون الأرض.

The Call to contemplate the various Manifestations of Allah's Power Allah says, أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الاٌّوَّلِينَ (Did We not destroy the ancients) meaning, those who rejected the Messengers and opposed what they came to them with. ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الاٌّخِرِينَ (So shall We make later generations to follow them.) meaning, from those who are similar to them. Thus, Allah says, كَذَلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Thus do We deal with the criminals. Woe that Day to the deniers!) Ibn Jarir said this. Then Allah reminding His creatures of His favor, and using the beginning of creation to support the idea of repeating it, He says: أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍ مَّهِينٍ (Did We not create you from a despised water) meaning, weak and despised in comparison to the power of the Creator. This is similar to what has been reported in the Hadith of Busr bin Jahhash (that Allah says), «ابْنَ آدَمَ أَنْى تُعْجِزُنِي وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ؟» ("(O) Son of Adam ! How can you think that I am unable, and yet I created you from something like this (i.e., semen)") فَجَعَلْنَـهُ فِى قَرَارٍ مَّكِينٍ (Then We placed it in a place of safety,) meaning, `We gathered him in the womb, where the fluid of the man and the woman settles. The womb has been prepared for this, as a protector of the fluid deposited in it. Allah said: إِلَى قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (For a known period) meaning, for a fixed period of time, which is from six months to nine months. Thus, Allah says, فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ الْقَـدِرُونَ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (So We did measure; and We are the best to measure. Woe that Day to the deniers!) Then Allah says, أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الاٌّرْضَ كِفَاتاً - أَحْيَآءً وَأَمْوتاً (Have We not made the earth Kifat for the living and the dead) Ibn `Abbas said, "Kifat means a place of shelter." Mujahid said, "It holds the dead so that nothing is seen of it." Ash-Sha`bi said, "Its interior is for your dead and its surface is for your living." Mujahid and Qatadah also said this. وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِىَ شَـمِخَـتٍ (And have placed therein fixed towers,) meaning, the mountains. The earth is held in place with them so that it does not shake and sway. وَأَسْقَيْنَـكُم مَّآءً فُرَاتاً (and have given you Furat water) meaning, cold and delicious water from the clouds or from what He causes to gush forth from the springs of the earth. وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (Woe that Day to the deniers!) meaning, woe to whoever reflects upon these created things which demonstrate the greatness of their Creator, then after that continues to reject Him and disbelieve in Him.

حسرت و افسوس کا وقت آنے سے پہلے اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ تم سے پہلے بھی جن لوگوں نے میرے رسولوں کی رسالت کو جھٹلایا میں نے انہیں نیست و نابود کردیا پھر ان کے بعد اور لوگ آئے انہوں نے بھی ایسا ہی کیا اور ہم نے بھی انہیں اسی طرح غارت کردیا ہم مجرموں کی غفلت کا یہی بدلہ دیتے چلے آئے ہیں، اس دن ان جھٹلانے والوں کی درگت ہوگی، پھر اپنی مخلوق کو اپنا احسان یاد دلاتا ہے اور منکرین قیامت کے سامنے دلیل پیش کرتا ہے کہ ہم نے اسے حقیر اور ذلیل قطرے سے پیدا کیا جو خالق کائنات کی قدرت کے سامنے ناچیز محض تھا، جیسے سورة یس کی تفسیر میں گذر چکا کہ اے ابن آدم بھلا تو مجھے کیا عاجز کرسکے گا میں نے تو تجھے اسی جیسی چیز سے پیدا کیا ہے، پھر اس قطرے کو ہم نے رحم میں جمع کیا جو اس پانی کے جمع ہونے کی جگہ ہے اسے بڑھاتا ہے اور محفوظ رکھتا ہے، مدت مقررہ تک وہ وہیں رہا یعنی چھ مہینے یا نو مہینے، ہمارے اس اندازے کو دیکھو کہ کس قدر صحیح اور بہترین ہے، پھر بھی اگر تم اس آنے والے دن کو نہ مانو گے تو یقین جانو کہ تمہیں قیامت کے دن بڑی حسرت اور سخت افسوس ہوگا۔ پھر فرمایا کیا ہم نے زمین کو یہ خدمت سپرد نہیں کی ؟ کہ وہ تمہیں زندگی میں بھی اپنی پیٹھ پر چلاتی رہے اور موت کے بعد بھی تمہیں اپنے پیٹ میں چھپا رکھے، پھر زمین کے نہ ہلنے جلنے کے لئے ہم نے مضبوط وزنی بلند پہاڑ اس میں گاڑ دیئے اور بادلوں سے برستا ہوا اور چشموں سے رستا ہوا ہلکا زور ہضم خوش گوار پانی ہم نے تمہیں پلایا، ان نعمتوں کے باوجود بھی اگر تم میری باتوں کو جھٹلاتے ہی رہے تو یاد رکھو وہ وقت آ رہا ہے جب حسرت و افسوس کرو گے اور کچھ کام نہ آئے۔
