But when He tries him by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!"

and you do not urge one another to feed the needy,

اور جب (دوسری طرح) آزماتا ہے کہ اس پر روزی تنگ کر دیتا ہے تو کہتا ہے کہ (ہائے) میرے پروردگار نے مجھے ذلیل کیا

وأنه إذا { قدر عَلَيْهِ رِزْقُهُ } أي: ضيقه، فصار يقدر قوته لا يفضل منه، أن هذا إهانة من الله له.

وأما إذا ما اختبره، فضيَّق عليه رزقه، فيظن أن ذلك لهوانه على الله، فيقول: ربي أهانن.

وكذلك في الجانب الآخر إذا ابتلاه وامتحنه وضيق عليه في الرزق يعتقد أن ذلك من الله إهانةله.

Wealth and Poverty are both a Test and Honor or Disgrace for the Servant Allah refutes man in his belief that if Allah gives Him abundant provisions to test him with it, it is out of His honor for him. But this is not the case, rather it is a trial and a test, as Allah says, أَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُمْ بِهِ مِن مَّالٍ وَبَنِينَ - نُسَارِعُ لَهُمْ فِى الْخَيْرَتِ بَل لاَّ يَشْعُرُونَ (Do they think that in wealth and children with which We enlarge them. We hasten unto them with good things. Nay, but they perceive not.) (23:55-56) Likewise, from another angle, if Allah tests him and tries him by curtailing his sustenance, he believes that is because Allah is humiliating him. As Allah says, كَلاَّ (But no!) meaning, the matter is not as he claims, neither in this nor in that. For indeed Allah gives wealth to those whom He loves as well as those whom He does not love. Likewise, He withholds sustenance from those whom He loves and those whom He does not love. The point is that Allah should be obeyed in either circumstance. If one is wealthy, he should thank Allah for that, and if he is poor, he should exercise patience. From the Evil that the Servant does regarding Wealth Allah said, بَل لاَّ تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ- (But you treat not the orphans with kindness and generosity!) This contains the command to honor him (the orphan). Abu Dawud recorded from Sahl bin Sa`id that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, «أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ كَهَاتَيْنِ فِي الْجَنَّة» (The guardian of the orphan and I will be like these two in Paradise.) And he put his two fingers together - the middle finger and the index finger. وَلاَ تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ- (And urge not one another on the feeding of the Miskin!) meaning, they do not command that the poor and the needy be treated with kindness, nor do they encourage each other to do so. وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ (And you devour the Turath) meaning, the inheritance. أَكْلاً لَّمّاً (devouring with greed.) meaning, however they can get it, whether lawful or forbidden. وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبّاً جَمّاً (And you love wealth with love Jamma.) meaning, in abundance. This increases some of them in their wickedness.

وسعت رزق کو اکرام نہ سمجھو بلکہ امتحان سمجھو مطلب یہ ہے کہ جو لوگ وسعت اور کشادگی پا کر یوں سمجھ بیٹھتے ہیں کہ اللہ نے ان کا اکرام کیا یہ غلط ہے بلکہ دراصل یہ امتحان ہے جیسے اور جگہ ہے ایحسبون انما نمدھم الخ یعنی مال و اولاد کے بڑھ جانے کو یہ لوگ نیکیوں کی زیادتی سمجھتے ہیں دراصل یہ ان کی بےسمجھی ہے اسی طرح اس کے برعکس بھی یعنی تنگ ترشی کو انسان اپنی اہانت سمجھ بیٹھتا ہے حالانکہ دراصل یہ بھی اللہ کی طرف سے آزمائش ہے اسی لیے یہاں " کلا " کہہ کر ان دونوں خیالات کی تردید کی کہ یہ واقعہ نہیں جسے اللہ مال کی وسعت دے اس سے وہ خوش ہے اور جس پر تنگی کرے اس سے ناخوش ہے بلکہ خوشی اور ناخوشی کا مدار ان دونوں حالتوں میں عمل پر ہے غنی ہو کر شکر گذاری کرے تو اللہ کا محبوب اور فقیر ہو کر صبر کرے تو اللہ کا محبوب اللہ تعالیٰ اس طرح اور اس طرح آزماتا ہے پھر یتیم کی عزت کرنے کا حکم دیا، حدیث میں ہے کہ سب سے اچھا گھر وہ ہے جس میں یتیم ہو اور اس کی اچھی پرورش ہو رہی ہو اور بدترین گھر وہ ہے جس میں یتیم ہو اور اس سے بدسلوکی کی جاتی ہو پھر آپ نے انگی اٹھا کر فرمایا میں اور یتیم کا پالنے والا جنت میں اس یطرح ہوں گے یعنی قریب قریب ابو داؤد کی حدیث میں ہے کہ کلمہ کی اور بیچ کی انگلی ملا کر انہیں دکھایا آپ نے فرمایا اور یتیم کا پالنے والا جنت میں اس طرح ہوں گے پھر فرمایا کہ یہ لوگ فقیروں مسکینوں کے ساتھ سلوک احسان کرنے انہیں کھانا پینا دینے کی ایک دوسرے کو رغبت و لالچ نہیں دلاتے اور یہ عیب بھی ان میں ہے کہ میراث کا مال حلال و حرام ہضم کر جاتے ہیں اور مال کی محبت بھی ان میں بیحد ہے۔
