Ayah Study

This is because they said to those who hate what Allâh has sent down: "We will obey you in part of the matter." But Allâh knows their secrets.

It is such as these whom God rejects, and whom He makes deaf [to the voice of truth], and whose eyes He blinds [to its sight]!

یہ اس لئے کہ جو لوگ خدا کی اُتاری ہوئی (کتاب) سے بیزار ہیں یہ ان سے کہتے ہیں کہ بعض کاموں میں ہم تمہاری بات بھی مانیں گے۔ اور خدا ان کے پوشیدہ مشوروں سے واقف ہے

وذلك أنهم قد تبين لهم الهدى، فزهدوا فيه ورفضوه، و { قَالُوا لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُوا مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ } من المبارزين العداوة لله ولرسوله { سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِي بَعْضِ الْأَمْرِ } أي: الذي يوافق أهواءهم، فلذلك عاقبهم الله بالضلال، والإقامة على ما يوصلهم إلى الشقاء الأبدي، والعذاب السرمدي.{ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِسْرَارَهُمْ } فلذلك فضحهم، وبينها لعباده المؤمنين، لئلا يغتروا بها.

ذلك الإمداد لهم حتى يتمادوا في الكفر؛ بسبب أنهم قالوا لليهود الذين كرهوا ما نزل الله: سنطيعكم في بعض الأمر الذي هو خلاف لأمر الله وأمر رسوله، والله تعالى يعلم ما يخفيه هؤلاء ويسرونه، فليحذر المسلم من طاعة غير الله فيما يخالف أمر الله سبحانه، وأمر رسوله محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم.

أي مالئوهم وناصحوهم في الباطن على الباطل وهذا شأن المنافقين يظهرون خلاف ما يبطنون ولهذا قال الله عز وجل "والله يعلم إسرارهم" أي ما يسرون وما يخفون الله مطلع عليه وعالم به كقوله تبارك وتعالى "والله يكتب ما يبيتون" .

The Command to reflect upon the Qur'an Commanding the people to reflect and ponder upon the Qur'an, and prohibiting them from turning away from it, Allah says, أَفَلاَ يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَى قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ (Will they not then reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon their hearts) means, there indeed are locks upon some hearts, firmly closing them so that none of its meanings can reach them. Ibn Jarir recorded from Hisham bin `Urwah, from his father, may Allah be pleased with him, that Allah's Messenger ﷺ once recited this Ayah, أَفَلاَ يَتَدَبَّرُونَ الْقُرْءَانَ أَمْ عَلَى قُلُوبٍ أَقْفَالُهَآ (Will they not then reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon their hearts) and a young man from Yemen said, "Indeed, there are locks upon them -- until Allah opens them totally or slightly." After that `Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, always liked that young man, and kept that to himself until he became in charge, upon which he utilized him (as a consultant). Condemning Apostasy Allah then says, إِنَّ الَّذِينَ ارْتَدُّواْ عَلَى أَدْبَـرِهِمْ (Verily, those who have turned back) meaning, they departed from the faith and returned to disbelief. مِّن بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الْهُدَى الشَّيْطَـنُ سَوَّلَ لَهُمْ (... after guidance had become clear to them -- Shaytan has enticed them) meaning he adorned and beautified that (apostasy) for them. وَأَمْلَى لَهُمْ (and filled them with false hopes.) meaning, he tempted them, and deceived them. ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ لِلَّذِينَ كَرِهُواْ مَا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ سَنُطِيعُكُمْ فِى بَعْضِ الاٌّمْرِ (That is because they said to those who hate what Allah sent down: "We will obey your in part of the matter.") means, they plotted secretly with them and gave them evil advice -- as is the common practice of the hypocrites who declare the opposite of what they conceal. Because of this, Allah says, وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِسْرَارَهُمْ (And Allah knows their secrets. ) whatever they hide and conceal, Allah is well-acquainted with it and He knows it. This is similar to His saying, وَاللَّهُ يَكْتُبُ مَا يُبَيِّتُونَ (...And Allah records all that they plot by night.) (4:81) Allah then says, فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمُ الْمَلَـئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَـرَهُمْ (How (will it be) when the angels will take their souls at death, striking their faces and their backs) That is, how their situation will be when the angels come to take their lives, and their souls cling to their bodies, causing the angels to extract them by force, harshness, and beating. This is similar to Allah's saying, وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ الْمَلَـئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَـرَهُمْ (If you could but see when the angels take away the lives of the disbelievers, striking their faces and their backs.) (8:50) And His saying, وَلَوْ تَرَى إِذِ الظَّـلِمُونَ فِى غَمَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْمَلَـئِكَةُ بَاسِطُواْ أَيْدِيهِمْ (If you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the agonies of death, while the angels extend their hands) (6:93). meaning, to beat them. أَخْرِجُواْ أَنفُسَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ الْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ غَيْرَ الْحَقِّ وَكُنتُمْ عَنْ ءَايَـتِهِ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ((saying): "Deliver your souls! This day you will be recompensed with the torment of degradation because of what you used to utter against Allah other than the truth, and because you used to arrogantly reject His signs.") (6:93) Because of the above, Allah says, ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمُ اتَّبَعُواْ مَآ أَسْخَطَ اللَّهَ وَكَرِهُواْ رِضْوَانَهُ فَأَحْبَطَ أَعْمَـلَهُمْ (That is because they pursued what angered Allah and disliked what earns His pleasure, so He rendered their deeds worthless.)

اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے کلام پاک میں غور و فکر کرنے سوچنے سمجھنے کی ہدایت فرماتا ہے اور اس سے بےپرواہی کرنے اور منہ پھیر لینے سے روکتا ہے۔ پس فرماتا ہے کہ غور و تامل تو کجا، ان کے تو دلوں پر قفل لگے ہوئے ہیں کوئی کلام اس میں اثر ہی نہیں کرتا۔ جائے تو اثر کرے اور جائے کہاں سے جبکہ جانے کی راہ نہ پائے۔ ابن جریر میں ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ حضور ﷺ اس آیت کی تلاوت فرما رہے تھے ایک نوجوان یمنی نے کہا بلکہ ان پر ان کے قفل ہیں جب تک اللہ نہ کھولے اور الگ نہ کرے پس حضرت عمر کے دل میں یہ بات رہی یہاں تک کہ اپنی خلافت کے زمانے میں اس سے مدد لیتے رہے۔ پھر فرماتا ہے جو لوگ ہدایت ظاہر ہو چکنے کے بعد ایمان سے الگ ہوگئے اور کفر کی طرف لوٹ گئے دراصل شیطان نے اس کار بد کو ان کی نگاہوں میں اچھا دکھا دیا ہے اور انہیں دھوکے میں ڈال رکھا ہے۔ دراصل ان کا یہ کفر سزا ہے ان کے اس نفاق کی جو ان کے دل میں تھا جس کی وجہ سے وہ ظاہر کے خلاف اپنا باطن رکھتے تھے۔ کافروں سے مل جل کر انہیں اپنا کرنے کے لئے ان سے باطن میں باطل پر موافقت کر کے کہتے تھے گھبراؤ نہیں ابھی ابھی ہم بھی بعض امور پر تمہارا ساتھ دیں گے لیکن یہ باتیں اس اللہ سے تو چھپ نہیں سکتیں جو اندرونی اور بیرونی حالات سے یکسر اور یکساں واقف ہو جو راتوں کے وقت کی پوشیدہ اور راز کی باتیں بھی سنتا ہو جس کے علم کی انتہا نہ ہو۔ پھر فرماتا ہے ان کا کیا حال ہوگا ؟ جبکہ فرشتے ان کی روحیں قبض کرنے کو آئیں گے اور ان کی روحیں جسموں میں چھپتی پھریں گی اور ملائکہ جبرا، قہرا، ڈانٹ، جھڑک اور مار پیٹ سے انہیں باہر نکالیں گے۔ جیسے ارشاد باری ہے آیت (وَلَوْ تَرٰٓي اِذْ يَتَوَفَّى الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوا ۙ الْمَلٰۗىِٕكَةُ يَضْرِبُوْنَ وُجُوْهَهُمْ وَاَدْبَارَهُمْ ۚ وَذُوْقُوْا عَذَابَ الْحَرِيْقِ 50؀) 8۔ الانفال :50) ، یعنی کاش کہ تو دیکھتا جبکہ ان کافروں کی روحیں فرشتے قبض کرتے ہوئے ان کے منہ پر طمانچے اور ان کی پیٹھ پر مکہ مارتے ہیں۔ اور آیت میں ہے (ولو تری اذ الظلمون) الخ، یعنی کاش کہ تو دیکھتا جبکہ یہ ظالم سکرات موت میں ہوتے ہیں اور فرشتے اپنے ہاتھ ان کی طرف مارنے کے لئے پھیلائے ہوئے ہوتے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں اپنی جانیں نکالو آج تمہیں ذلت کے عذاب کئے جائیں گے اس لئے کہ تم اللہ کے ذمے ناحق کہا کرتے تھے اور اس کی آیتوں میں تکبر کرتے تھے۔ یہاں ان کا گناہ بیان کیا گیا کہ ان کاموں اور باتوں کے پیچھے لگے ہوئے تھے جن سے اللہ ناخوش ہو اور اللہ کی رضا سے کراہت کرتے تھے۔ پس ان کے اعمال اکارت ہوگئے۔
