Verily, you pass by them in the morning

AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons?

اور تم دن کو بھی ان (کی بستیوں) کے پاس سے گزرتے رہتے ہو

{ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِمْ } أي: على ديار قوم لوط { مُصْبِحِينَ وَبِاللَّيْلِ }

وإنكم -يا أهل "مكة"- لتمرون في أسفاركم على منازل قوم لوط وآثارهم وقت الصباح، وتمرون عليها ليلا. أفلا تعقلون، فتخافوا أن يصيبكم مثل ما أصابهم؟

لا يوجد تفسير لهذه الأية

The Destruction of the People of Lut (Lot) Allah tells us that He sent His servant and Messenger Lut, peace be upon him, to his people, and they denied him, so Allah saved him from among them, him and his family with the exception of his wife, who was destroyed along with her people. Allah destroyed them with different kinds of punishments, and made their vicinity a foul, stinking lake which is on a well-travelled route where people pass by night and day (i.e., the Dead Sea, which lays close to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah on the highway between Arabia and Syria). Allah says: وَإِنَّكُمْ لَّتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مُّصْبِحِينَ - وَبِالَّيْلِ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ (Verily, you pass by them in the morning. And at night; will you not then reflect) meaning, `will you not learn a lesson from them and how Allah destroyed them, and realize that a similar end awaits the disbelievers.'

قوم لوط ؑ ایک عبرت کا مقام۔اللہ تعالیٰ کے بندے اور اس کے رسول حضرت لوط ؑ کا بیان ہو رہا ہے کہ انہیں بھی ان کی قوم نے جھٹلایا۔ جس پر اللہ کے عذاب ان پر برس پڑے اور اللہ نے اپنے پیارے حضرت لوط ؑ کو مع ان کے گھر والوں کے نجات دے دی۔ لیکن ان کی بیوی غارت ہوئی قوم کے ساتھ ہی ہلاک ہوئی اور ساری قوم بھی تباہ ہوئی۔ قسم قسم کے عذاب ان پر آئے اور جس جگہ وہ رہتے تھے وہاں ایک بدبو دار اور جھیل بن گئی جس کا پانی بدمزہ بدبو بد رنگ ہے جو آنے جانے والوں کے راستے میں ہی پڑی ہے۔ تم تو دن رات وہاں سے آتے جاتے رہتے ہو اور اس خوفناک منظر اور بھیانک مقام کو صبح شام دیکھتے رہتے ہو۔ کیا اس معائنہ کے بعد بھی عبرت حاصل نہیں کرتے اور سوچتے سمجھتے نہیں ہو ؟ کس طرح یہ برباد کردیئے گئے ؟ ایسا نہ ہو کہ یہی عذاب تم پر بھی آجائیں۔
