They said: "We will not stop worshipping it (i.e. the calf), until Mûsâ (Moses) returns to us."

from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?

وہ کہنے لگے کہ جب تک موسیٰ ہمارے پاس واپس نہ آئیں ہم تو اس کی پوجا پر قائم رہیں گے

فأبوا وقالوا: { لَنْ نَبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفِينَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَى }

قال عُبَّاد العجل منهم: لن نزال مقيمين على عبادة العجل حتى يرجع إلينا موسى.

"قالوا لن نبرج عليه عاكفين حتى يرجع إلينا موسى" أي لا نترك عبادته حتى نسمع كلام موسى فيه وخالفوا هارون في ذلك وحاربوه وكادوا أن يقتلوه.

Harun prohibits them from worship of Calf and the Persistence of the Children of Israel in doing so Allah, the Exalted, informs of Harun's attempt to prohibit them from worshipping the calf and his telling them that this was only a test for them. He told them that their Lord was the Most Beneficent, Who created everything and decreed for everything its just measure. He is the Owner of the Mighty Throne, the One Who does whatever He wants. فَاتَّبِعُونِى وَأَطِيعُواْ أَمْرِى (so follow me and obey my order.) Meaning, "Follow me in that which I am commanding you with and leave that which I forbid you from." قَالُواْ لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَـكِفِينَ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوسَى (They said: "We will not stop worshipping it, until Musa returns to us.") meaning, "We will not cease in our worship of this calf until we hear what Musa has to say about it." So they opposed Harun in this matter and they fought against him, nearly killing him.

بنی اسرائیل اور ہارون ؑ۔حضرت موسیٰ ؑ کے آنے سے پہلے حضرت ہارون ؑ نے انہیں ہرچند سمجھایا بجھایا کہ دیکھو فتنے میں نہ پڑو اللہ رحمان کے سوا اور کسی کے سامنے نہ جھکو۔ وہ ہر چیز کا خالق مالک ہے سب کا اندازہ مقرر کرنے والا وہی ہے وہی عرش مجید کا مالک ہے وہی جو چاہے کر گزرنے والا ہے۔ تم میری تابعداری اور حکم برداری کرتے رہو جو میں کہوں وہ بجا لاؤ جس سے روکوں رک جاؤ۔ لیکن ان سرکشوں نے جواب دیا کہ موسیٰ ؑ کی سن کر تو خیر ہم مان لیں گے تب تک تو ہم اس کی پرستش نہیں چھوڑیں گے۔ چناچہ لڑنے اور مرنے مارنے کے واسطے تیار ہوگئے۔
