Full Sharh — Bulugh al-Maram 1501
وَعَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { بَعَثَنِي اَلنَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -إِلَى اَلْيَمَنِ, وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ آخُذَ مِنْ كُلِّ حَالِمٍ دِينَاراً, أَوْ عَدْلَهُ معافرياً } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلثَّلَاثَةِ, وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ حِبَّانَ, وَالْحَاكِم ُ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه أبو داود ( 3038 )، والنسائي ( 5 / 25 - 26 )، والترمذي ( 623 )، وابن حبان ( 794 )، والحاكم ( 1 / 398 ). المعافري: ثياب تكون باليمن، نسبة إلى بلد هناك.
English Translation
Mu'adh bin Jabal (RAA) narrated, ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me to Yemen and he commanded me to take the Jizyah from everyone who has reached the age of puberty-one Dinar- or its equivalent in Ma’afiri (garments of Yemeni origin).’ Related by the three Imams. Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim graded it as Sahih.
