Ayah Study

And thus have We sent it (the Qur’ân) down to be a judgement of authority in Arabic. Were you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) to follow their (vain) desires after the knowledge which has come to you, then you will not have any Walî (protector) or Wâq (defender) against Allâh.

and who are patient in adversity out of a longing for their Sustainer’s countenance, and are constant in prayer, and spend on others, secretly and openly, out of what We provide for them as sustenance, and [who] repel evil with good.

اور اسی طرح ہم نے اس قرآن کو عربی زبان کا فرمان نازل کیا ہے۔ اور اگر تم علم (ودانش) آنے کے بعد ان لوگوں کی خواہشوں کے پیچھے چلو گے تو خدا کے سامنے کوئی نہ تمہارا مددگار ہوگا اور نہ کوئی بچانے والا

أي: ولقد أنزلنا هذا القرآن والكتاب حكما، عربيا أي: محكما متقنا، بأوضح الألسنة وأفصح اللغات، لئلا يقع فيه شك واشتباه، وليوجب أن يتبع وحده، ولا يداهن فيه، ولا يتبع ما يضاده ويناقضه من أهواء الذين لا يعلمون. ولهذا توعد رسوله -مع أنه معصوم- ليمتن عليه بعصمته ولتكون أمته أسوته في الأحكام فقال: { وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ بَعْدَمَا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ } البين الذي ينهاك عن اتباع أهوائهم، { مَا لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ } يتولاك فيحصل لك الأمر المحبوب، { وَلَا وَاقٍ } يقيك من الأمر المكروه.

وكما أنزلنا الكتب على الأنبياء بلسانهم أنزلنا إليك -أيها الرسول- القرآن بلغة العرب؛ لتحكم به، ولئن اتبعت أهواء المشركين في عبادة غير الله -بعد الحق الذي جاءك من الله- ليس لك ناصر ينصرك ويمنعك من عذابه.

وقوله " وكذلك أنزلناه حكما عربيا " أي وكما أرسلنا قبلك المرسلين وأنزلنا عليهم الكتب من السماء كذلك أنزلنا عليك القرآن محكما معربا شرفناك به وفضلناك على من سواك بهذا الكتاب المبين الواضح الجلي الذي " لا يأتيه الباطل من بين يديه ولا من خلفه تنزيل من حكيم حميد " وقوله " ولئن اتبعت أهواءهم " أي آراءهم " بعد ما جاءك من العلم " أي من الله سبحانه وتعالى " مالك من الله من ولي ولا واق " وهذا وعيد لأهل العلم أن يتبعوا سبل أهل الضلالة بعد ما صاروا إليه من سلوك السنة النبوية والمحجة المحمدية على من جاء بها أفضل الصلاة والسلام.

The Truthful Ones from among the People of the Scriptures rejoice at what Allah has revealed to Muhammad ﷺ Allah said, وَالَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـهُمُ الْكِتَـبَ (Those to whom We have given the Book,) and they adhere by it, يَفْرَحُونَ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ (rejoice at what has been revealed unto you,) i.e. the Qur'an, because they have evidence in their Books affirming the truth of the Qur'an and conveying the good news of its imminent revelation, just as Allah said in another Ayah, الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَـهُمُ الْكِتَـبَ يَتْلُونَهُ حَقَّ تِلاَوَتِهِ (Those to whom We gave the Book recite it as it should be recited.) 2:121 Allah said, قُلْ ءَامِنُواْ بِهِ أَوْ لاَ تُؤْمِنُواْ (Say: "Believe in it (the Qur'an) or do not believe.") 17:107, until, إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاً (Truly, the promise of our Lord must be fulfilled.) 17:109 meaning, Allah's promise to us in our Books to send Muhammad ﷺ is true. It is certain and will surely come to pass and be fulfilled, so all praise to our Lord, how truthful is His promise, all the thanks are due to Him, وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلاٌّذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعًا (And they fall down on their faces weeping and it increases their humility.) 17:109 Allah said next, وَمِنَ الاٌّحْزَابِ مَن يُنكِرُ بَعْضَهُ (but there are among the Ahzab (Confederates) those who reject a part thereof.) meaning, `There are those among the sects who disbelieve in some of what was revealed to you (O Muhammad).' Mujahid said that, وَمِنَ الاٌّحْزَابِ (but there are among the Ahzab (Confederates)), refers to Jews and Christians, مَن يُنكِرُ بَعْضَهُ (those who reject a part thereof), meaning, `They reject a part of the truth that came down to you - O Muhammad.' Similar was reported from Qatadah and `Abdur-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam. Allah said in similar Ayat, وَإِنَّ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَـبِ لَمَن يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ (And there are, certainly, among the People of the Scripture, those who believe in Allah.) 3:199 Allah said next, قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ وَلا أُشْرِكَ بِهِ (Say: "I am commanded only to worship Allah and not to join partners with Him...") meaning, `I (Muhammad) was sent with the religion of worshipping Allah alone without partners, just as the Messengers before me, إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُو (To Him (alone) I call), I call the people to His path, وَإِلَيْهِ مَآبِ (and to Him is my return.) final destination and destiny.' Allah said, وَكَذلِكَ أَنزَلْنَاهُ حُكْمًا عَرَبِيًّا (And thus have We sent it (the Qur'an) down to be a judgement of authority in Arabic.) Allah says, `Just as We sent Messengers before you and revealed to them Divine Books from heaven, We sent down to you the Qur'an, a judgement of authority in Arabic, as an honor for you, and We preferred you among all people with this clear, plain and unequivocal Book that, لاَّ يَأْتِيهِ الْبَـطِلُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَلاَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ تَنزِيلٌ مِّنْ حَكِيمٍ حَمِيدٍ (Falsehood cannot come to it from before it or behind it: (it is) sent down by the All-Wise, Worthy of all praise.)' 41:42 Allah's statement, وَلَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتَ أَهْوَآءَهُم (Were you to follow their (vain) desires), means, their opinions, بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ (after the knowledge which has come to you) from Allah, all praise to Him, مَا لَكَ مِنَ اللَّهِ مِن وَلِىٍّ وَلاَ وَاقٍ (then you will not have any Wali (protector) or defender against Allah.) This part of the Ayah warns people of know- ledge against following the paths of misguid- ance after they had gained knowledge in (and abided by) the Prophetic Sunnah and the path of Muhammad ﷺ, may Allah's best peace and blessings be on him.

شاداں وفرحاں لوگ جو لوگ اس سے پہلے کتاب دئیے گئے ہیں اور وہ اس کے عامل ہیں وہ تو تجھ پر اس قرآن کے اترنے سے شاداں وفرحاں ہو رہے ہیں کیونکہ خود ان کی کتابوں میں اس کی بشارت اور اس کی صداقت موجود ہے۔ جیسے آیت (اَلَّذِيْنَ اٰتَيْنٰھُمُ الْكِتٰبَ يَتْلُوْنَهٗ حَقَّ تِلَاوَتِهٖ) 2۔ البقرۃ :121) میں ہے کہ اگلی کتابوں کو اچھی طور سے پڑھنے اس آخری کتاب پر بھی ایمان لاتے ہیں۔ آنحضرت ﷺ کی رسالت کی خبر ہے اور وہ اس وعدے کو پوار دیکھ کر خوشی سے مان لیتے ہیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ اس سے پاک ہے کہ اس کے وعدے غلط نکلیں اس کے فرمان صحیح ثابت نہ ہوں پس وہ شادماں ہوتے ہوئے اللہ کے سامنے سجدے میں گرپڑتے ہیں۔ ہاں ان جماعتوں میں ایسے بھی ہیں جو اس کی بعض باتوں کو نہیں مانتے، غرض بعض اہل کتاب مسلمان ہیں بعض نہیں، تو اے نبی اعلان کر دے کہ مجھے صرف اللہ واحد کی عبادت کا حکم ملا ہوا ہے کہ دوسرے کی شرکت کے بغیر صرف اسی کی عبادت اس کی ہی توحید کے ساتھ کروں یہی حکم مجھ سے پہلے کے تمام نبیوں اور رسولوں کو ملا تھا، اسی راہ کی طرف اسی الہٰی عبادت کی طرف میں تمام دنیا کو دعوت دیتا ہوں۔ اسی اللہ کی طرف سب کو بلاتا ہوں اور اسی اللہ کی طرف میرا لوٹنا ہے۔ جس طرح ہم نے تم سے پہلے نبی بھیجے ان پر اپنی کتابیں نازل فرمائیں اسی طرح یہ قرآن جو محکم اور مضبوط ہے عربی زبان میں جو تیری اور تیری قوم کی زبان ہے اس قرآن کو ہم نے تجھ پر نازل فرمایا۔ یہ بھی تجھ پر خاص احسان ہے کہ اس واضح اظہار مفصل اور محکم کتاب کے ساتھ تجھے ہم نے نوازا کہ نہ اس کے آگے سے باطل آسکے نہ اس کے پیچھے سے آ کر اس میں مل سکے یہ حکیم وحمید اللہ کی طرف سے اتری ہے۔ اے نبی ﷺ تیرے پاس الہامی علم آسمانی وحی آچکی ہے اب بھی اگر تو نے ان کی خواہش کی ماتحتی کی تو یاد رکھ کہ اللہ کے عذابوں سے تجھے کوئی بھی نہ بچا سکے گا۔ نہ کوئی تیری حمایت پر کھڑا ہوگا۔ سنت نبویہ اور طریقہ محمدیہ کے علم کے بعد جو گمراہی والوں کے راستوں کو اختیار کریں ان علماء کے لئے اس آیت میں زبردست وعید ہے۔
